How to Operate a Jigsaw
- 1). Decide if you need a circular saw, a jigsaw, or a table saw for your job. Do curving cuts with a saber saw, band saw, or jigsaw. Pick a jigsaw to cut holes or curves in thin metals, plastics, wood moldings, and plywood.
- 2). Read the owner's manual before operating your saw.
- 3). Wear glasses or other eye protection.
- 4). Use a sharp blade. Replace dull blades while the saw is unplugged or the charger is removed.
- 5). Hold the jigsaw with one hand and item being cut with the other hand.
- 6). Depress the trigger and cut the material.
- 7). Let the saw blade do the work.
- 8). Keep the saw footplate flush against the wood.
- 9). Hold the trigger during the entire cut.
