How to Operate a Jigsaw

104 14
    • 1). Decide if you need a circular saw, a jigsaw, or a table saw for your job. Do curving cuts with a saber saw, band saw, or jigsaw. Pick a jigsaw to cut holes or curves in thin metals, plastics, wood moldings, and plywood.

    • 2). Read the owner's manual before operating your saw.

    • 3). Wear glasses or other eye protection.

    • 4). Use a sharp blade. Replace dull blades while the saw is unplugged or the charger is removed.

    • 5). Hold the jigsaw with one hand and item being cut with the other hand.

    • 6). Depress the trigger and cut the material.

    • 7). Let the saw blade do the work.

    • 8). Keep the saw footplate flush against the wood.

    • 9). Hold the trigger during the entire cut.
