Cigar Bars in Seattle Area

Cigar smoking has enjoyed an upswing of popularity since the early 1990s. Cigar bars, magazines related to cigars (including Cigar Aficionado, with covers that have featured Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jeff Bridges, Pierce Brosnan, Tom Selleck and Sharon Stone) and cigars and accessories are varied and exotic. Many people respond to the retro atmosphere of a cigar club as a modern "gentlemen's club," with women invited (and encouraged) to partake. However, the enthusiasm for cigar bars was doused in Seattle in 2005 when Initiative 901, Washington's statewide smoking ban initiative, was passed. The ban is the strictest nationwide and forbids smoking within 25 feet of building entrances. Restaurants with designated outdoor patios for smokers or tribal casinos are havens for those who still indulge in tobacco smoking in Washington state. - With Seattle's crackdown on smoking inside buildings, it's hard to find a cigar bar. But Tini Bigs has a large outdoor patio where smoking is legal. Cigars are sold in the lounge and those who wish to indulge in a smoke can gather in the patio while enjoying one of Tini Bigs' signature drinks such as the Backyard Martini or the Chet Baker. Hours: 4 p.m. till 2 a.m. daily. No cover charge.
