How to Change My Number to Another Verizon Wireless Phone
- 1). Turn off the your old Verizon Wireless phone. Press and hold the end call button down until the phone powers off. Remove the media card if your mobile phone uses one.
- 2). Charge the replacement cell phone. Power the handset on and dial *228. Even though the phone does not have service, you'll still be able to reach the number.
- 3). Listen to the automated message. Select option 3. The system will ask you to enter your mobile number. Type in the number that you used on your old cell phone. If you have a password on your Verizon Wireless account, enter it when asked to verify it.
- 1). Go to the Verizon Wireless phone activation page. Log in to your My Verizon account by clicking on the gray "Sign In" button located in the middle of the page. Type in your phone number and account password.
- 2). Click in the box labeled "Step 2" and enter your cell phone number. Press the tab button on your computer and type your billing zip code. Click inside of the area labeled "New ESN/ MEID."
- 3). Remove the battery from your new phone. The ESN or MEID number is found on the sticker on the back of your phone, according to the Verizon Wireless website. Type the number in and click "Continue."
- 4). Follow the remaining steps. You will be asked for an order number if you purchased the phone from a vendor, so have your receipt ready. You must also provide the password or social security number for your account's primary customer, according to the Verizon Wireless website.
