Disciplining Toddlers - Great Tips to Stamp Out Bad Behaviour

103 12
I know that disciplining toddlers can be pretty hard to do, especially because you don't want to resort to smacking them or shouting at them.
If you came to this webpage because you want to get your little one under control once more, then read on because I'm going to give you some super great tips! Probably the most important factor when it comes to disciplining toddlers is for you to understand the meaning of the word discipline.
I must admit that I fell for this mistake a few years ago and I don't want you to associate the word discipline with anger, strict rules and hitting, because this is not going to benefit your toddler.
You need to teach them right from wrong by positive reinforcement and by the actions you take rather than punishing them.
For example if your toddler is having a tantrum because they are not getting their own way, you need to discipline them by teaching them that screaming and shouting is not going to get them what they want.
If you're shouting at them to be quiet then they're going to think that's the way to solve things! Instead you should just ignore these cries for attention and when they calm down explain to them that kind of behaviour is unacceptable and only good behaviour should be rewarded.
Far too many times I have seen parents hitting their children when they are having a tantrum which is totally wrong to do because they will get the idea that violence is the best way to solve problems.
The fact is that disciplining toddlers need not be punishing them, but more telling them what's right and what's wrong.
Do not expect too much from your toddler however and remember that they are still young and still learning the world around them.
Having over inflated expectations can lead to unnecessary punishment which is not good for the child.
Every parent has to learn the best way of disciplining toddlers to help them grow up a happy and polite child.
If you let your child run riot throughout their toddler and child years without discipline then the likelihood of them becoming an unruly teenager is significantly increased.
My advice to you is to stamp out their bad behaviour as early as possible while they are a more manageable size! I want to show you some advice that really helped me and I know it can help you too.
