Power of the Subconscious Mind in Adverse Times

103 9
One of the toughest professions known to mankind is the military, and even more so during times of conflict.
Under such circumstances, men and women serving their countries are sent to the front lines of the battlefield and are faced with survival on a moment by moment basis.
They are constantly in harms way, fighting to stay alive and see the dawning of a new day.
The one thing which keeps them going is what most men call hope.
In actual fact, it is a form of mind power.
Soldiers keep the mental picture of their loved ones continually in their mind, while the desire and determination to see them again pulls them through each difficult moment even when they are in captivity.
In the case of the married men and women, the hope of seeing their spouses and children once again drives them on and they write letters to home while reading the ones they received over and over again.
All of this is in an effort to give the mind something to picture and focus on while compelling the physical body to push for survival.
It is in times of adversity that the power inherent in man and which resides in his mind comes to the forefront.
It is at this time that the mind empowers the body to keep on keeping on in the hope of a better tomorrow.
When the apostle Paul and the other disciples suffered persecution, their spirits were kept high by the single fact that they were doing the Lord's work and they were, in due time, going to be with the Lord.
Nothing else mattered and the sure hope of being once more with the Lord and serving beside Him was sufficient for them to take on any punishment.
This picture which they constantly fed to their subconscious minds solidified their mindset and spurred their bodies on to do more.
Their spirits became indomitable and they were empowered to achieve more and more against all odds mounted against them.
In times of conflict, when men and women who just a few days before were innocent boys and girls, see death and destruction all around them and their minds are threatened with the decay which mankind causes, they need something to hang onto.
What this means is that they must exercise their mind power.
They must dig deep within themselves and cling to a reality to which they desire to return someday and focus on that.
This reality is what brought many men home from the various wars which the world has fought; such as, the First World War, Second World War, Vietnam war, Korean War etc.
If men facing death can empower their minds to fire their bodies and keep hope alive, then surely those who are facing the lesser travails of life can do even better.
