How a Mommy Makeover Can Restore Your Pre-Baby Body

101 28
Did you scoff the first time you heard the term "Mommy Makeover?" If you did, you're not alone. It sounds a little too good to be true. After all, can you really restore the look you had before you became a mom? Yes; you really can.

Surgeons and other medical professionals from diverse backgrounds and specialties have spent years focusing on enhancing the look of the female body after childbirth. These physicians have studied the results of combining certain cosmetic surgery procedures in order to develop what is known as the Mommy Makeover. Today, it has earned its place as a remarkably popular and satisfying procedure.

I perform many stand-alone procedures for moms who visit my practice with only a single area of concern. For these women, I will recommend and perform only a single procedure (such as breast augmentation). Some Dallas women, however, are seeking more comprehensive improvement. For these women, I will recommend a Mommy Makeover.

Your Concerns

"After I had children, everything changed," say many moms during their cosmetic surgery consultation. The results of these changes have a significant impact on external appearance. Common complaints include:
  • Drooping, deflated breasts
  • Excess fat deposits and excess skin on the abdomen
  • Areas of residual fat (such as the hips and thighs)
  • Wrinkles and skin laxity on the face

To address such varied concerns, a personal solution is necessary. Each Mommy Makeover I perform is developed based on a woman's individual cosmetic needs and goals.

Your Solutions

No single procedure is going to cover all of the concerns above. That is why the key to a Mommy Makeover is to combine procedures. I carefully select a series of procedures for each patients, but there are some procedures that are more commonly part of a Mommy Makeover than others.
  • Breast augmentation. After breastfeeding, the breasts can look deflated. They may seem even smaller than they were before childbirth. With breast implants, breast augmentation surgery restores volume for a more pleasing size and shape.
  • Breastlift. a breast lift corrects the drooping, sagging appearance breasts can take on after childbirth and breastfeeding.
  • Breastreduction. For some women with very large breasts, childbirth and breastfeeding can make breast size even more pronounced. A breast reduction can reduce the size of breasts and achieve a more youthful, lifted look.
  • Tummytuck. Excess skin and fat on the abdomen and loose abdominal muscles are a common concern for moms.  A tummy tuck can remove excess tissue and tighten abdominal muscles.
  • Liposuction. In areas with small fat deposits, where excess skin is not a concern, liposuction offers the ability to fine-tune and refine body contours. Moms frequently choose liposuction for their hips, thighs, and "love handles."
  • Facialrejuvenation. Hormonal changes and the strain of long days and nights taking care of a baby can cause women to look (and feel) prematurely aged. Women often choose surgical or non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or a facelift at my Dallas practice.

One or more of the procedures above may be selected for a Mommy Makeover. The vast majority of the time, I perform these procedures as part of a single surgery. However, if women prefer or if their needs dictate, I may consider staged procedures. Ultimately, the most important element of a Mommy Makeover is the individualized approach. Each mother is unique, and deserves a Mommy Makeover that is just for her.
