How do I Install a Hunter 44550 Thermostat?
- 1). Shut off the electricity at your main circuit breaker panel to your heating and air-conditioning equipment.
- 2). Label each wire with the supplied labels. Do not rely on wire color codes. If replacing an old thermostat, label each wire according to the letter-coded terminals. Consult your heating and cooling equipment installation instructions for proper thermostat wire terminals.
- 3). Remove the 44550 thermostat from the wall plate by pressing the release tab on the bottom of the thermostat.
- 4). Slip the thermostat wires through the hole in the wall plate. Align the wall plate against the wall and level as desired. The Hunter 44550 thermostat does not require leveling to properly function. Mark the two mounting hole locations.
- 5). Drill two holes at the marked locations and push the two plastic wall anchors provided with your thermostat into the two holes. Tap lightly if needed with the handle of your screwdriver to assure a snug fit.
- 6). Align the wall plate over the anchor locations and tighten using the two provided screws.
- 7). Attach each labeled wire to its corresponding location on the wall plate.
- 8). Set the switches on the back of the Hunter 44550 thermostat for your particular heating and cooling system. Consult your equipment installation instructions for proper settings.
- 9). Snap the Hunter 44550 on to the wall plate by attaching the top tabs to the wall plate and swinging the thermostat down into position. Do not force the thermostat on to the wall plate.

Return electricity to your heating and cooling system and finish programming the Hunter 44550 thermostat to your needs per the installation instructions.
