Gaming for All Ages on Satellite TV

The modern computer, or at least PC, has been described by some as an expensive deck of cards. With all the information process ability that each relatively tiny machine holds, this may seem like a drastic underestimate, but for many holds a sliver of truth. If what we use computers for is writing emails, storing photographs, and mastering solitaire, wouldn't it be more economical just to buy a notepad, scrapbook, and deck of Bicycles? Perhaps, but something about putting our favorite pastimes up on the digital screen just makes all the difference in the world. Not to mention, the average notepad doesn't allow us to cut and paste, or delete entire paragraphs when we've made a mistake. The average scrapbook doesn't allow for digital enhancement and red eye removal. And the average deck of cards, well, requires shuffling? What could possibly make the world of digital games more exciting, but not require the average adult to struggle with the modern matrixes of unwinnable 3 dimensional video games? How about an even bigger screen, more comfortable venue, and even more digitally enhanced high definition graphics?

For satellite TV subscribers, the very best in on-screen gaming is already here. With features like Game Lounge, many homes are enjoying the ability to play not only card games like Solitaire, Turbo, and 5 Card Slingo, but classic games, world & puzzle games, kids' games, arcade games and more right from the comfort of their living room sofas, kitchen counters, dens, offices, or wherever their HD TVs may be. With more expenses bearing down on the average family than ever, it is unlikely many are rushing right out to plunk down upwards of $50 for the latest in family board game entertainment. With satellite TV, now there is no need to keep filling up the game closet, with classics like Monopoly, Yahtzee and Dominoes all available right on the screen. Get all the wholesome, gather 'round family entertainment that any parents could ask for without breaking the bank, and feel free to turn that game closet into storage, a religious shrine, or even, well, a functioning closet.

For those who are fans of programs like Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune, keep the gaming going with a wide selection of world games, puzzles and brain teasers. Great for staying mentally fit, word games and puzzles have long been recommended as brain strengthens for seniors (not that we couldn't all use a little mental pick-me-up now and again). Worried about kids getting into the video game frame of mind that everything worth playing involves gross amounts of violence and gore or sports? Give kids the remote, and encourage them to play some of the more wholesome classics like darts, ten pin bowling, adventure games, puzzle games and more.

There was a time when the video game was a far simpler thing, meant for kids and reserved for after chores and homework were done. Now, with video games literally everywhere, any computer, cell phone, television, or digital music device is a chance to get in a few rounds of play. Encourage kids and family members to play it your way, with fun and classic games right over your satellite TV.
