How to Find Beauty in a Broken World
- 1). Begin with yourself. Start by writing down good qualities you see in yourself or others have told you they often see in you.
- 2). Focus on the beauty within your own life. List the wonderful people in your life and some of the beautiful things you appreciate about them. Write down all the beautiful things that live around you, such as the beauty of a wonderful family or the beauty of the area where you live.
- 3). Silence the critic inside you. Arina Nikitina, author of several self-help books including "Real Goal Setting," states that when you are constantly criticizing everyone and everything, it is very easy to lose sight of the beauty around you. Begin to look at the positive aspects and everything and you may just begin to see the world in a different way.
- 4). Pick up a new hobby. This may help you explore a talent you never knew you had, such as recognizing the beauty of music through making your own or seeing the beauty of art through using your own canvas.
- 5). Do something good for others by volunteering at a homeless or children's shelter or charity that lovingly serves others. This will help you see the beauty of compassion many have for others as well as allow you the experience of enriching someone else's life in a meaningful way.
