Raspberry Soap

103 210
Remember those old movies with the mad scientist running through his lab, pouring chemicals from different beakers to concoct a new formula...
Well, I've been feeling a bit like that scientist lately.
I've been running around my kitchen adding different things from cupboards to melt & pour soap bases to create different soap recipes.
There's so many spices, herbs and grocery staples you can use straight from the cupboards as an additive, colorant or fragrance to melt & pour soap base to make the most intriguing and lovely hand made soaps! (And you can practice your evil laugh just like in the movies, too.
) I took classes on melt and pour soaps (when it first was introduced) and it always is one of those crafts I gravitate back to for a quick gift.
Actually it gives me great satisfaction to know each soap I make is unique, beautiful and has healing or uplifting properties.
I told you in my last article to "save" the red scraps of melt & pour soap.
Here's why..
..
Raspberry bar soap you'll need: melt& pour soap (clear glycerine) about 1cup, cut up in chunks red soap dye contents of 6 Vitamin E capsules oatmeal, about 2 Tablespoons wheat bran, about 2 Tablespoons ground cinnamon, about 2 tablespoons mini loaf pan or any other suitable mold knife microwaveable bowl or measuring cup bamboo skewer or craft stick to use for stirring raffia or ribbon, optional According to manufacturer's directions, melt the melt & pour soap in the microwave until all the chunks have melted.
Add red dye and the contents of 6 Vitamin E capsules to ¾ of a cup of it.
(this is where you can re-use the leftover soap from Hearts Afloat) and pour into loaf pan mold.
Allow to dry and harden.
Melt the remaining melt & pour soap and add oatmeal, wheat bran and cinnamon.
Pour onto red soap in the loaf pan mold.
Allow to harden and dry.
Remove from mold.
Cut in half.
You may tie each piece with raffia or ribbon or leave plain.
Oatmeal, wheat bran and Vitamin E is great for the skin.
This is a very simple craft to give as a gift or to pamper yourself.
