How to Install Weatherstripping in a Car Vent Window
- 1). Determine how many windows are going to need weather stripping. Roll down each window and check all of the connections the glass has with the inside and outside of the door. Look for cracked or missing weather stripping. Use the pliers to push on the weather stripping to see if it is hard or soft. If the stripping is hard and brittle, it needs replaced.
- 2). Use the razor blade knife and needle-nose pliers to remove the old weather stripping. Cut underneath the weather stripping with the razor blade and then pull the stripping out with the needle nose pliers. Also, use the razor blade to scrape off any old glue that is still stuck to the door frame from the old weather stripping.
- 3). Spread the glue from your new weather stripping kit on both the door frame and the mounting side of the weather stripping and let dry to tacky. Using the needle nose pliers, slide the weather stripping into the door frame and press the two glued surfaces together firmly. Repeat the process for the other side of the door frame.
- 4). Follow steps 2-3 for the remaining windows that need weatherstripped.
- 5). Let the weather stripping dry for 30 minutes and then slowly roll the windows up. Allow it to dry for a minimum of 24 hours before rolling the windows down again.
