How to Mount an Image to a Drive on Vista
- 1). Download and install a virtual drive manager. Several free ones exist, but this article concentrates on Virtual CloneDrive, although instructions for the simpler WinCDEmu can be found in the "Tips" section. Download links for both are available in "Resources."
- 2). Launch Virtual CloneDrive and set the number of virtual drives you wish to mount. Think of these as slots, just like the physical ones in your computer: The more virtual drives you create the more images you will be able to mount at the same time.
- 3). Mount an image on a virtual drive by double-clicking the image file. It will automatically mount on the first available virtual drive. You can also right-click on a particular virtual drive in your "Computer" window and select "Virtual CloneDrive," then "Mount..." to bring up a window from which you can select the image you'd like to mount.
- 4). Unmount an image by right-clicking the drive it's mounted on, selecting "Virtual CloneDrive" and clicking "Unmount." This is analogous to removing a CD from a physical CD drive.
