A Jacuzzi requires a bit more cleaning than a regular spa as you must consider the debris that gets sucked into the jets of the Jacuzzi with each use. When this debris settles, it sits inside the jets and blasts back out the next time you use the Jacuzzi. This turns your clean, relaxing spa experience into a disaster, which makes it crucial that you clean the Jacuzzi every week or so. - Dishwasher detergent is perfect for everyday cleaning of the Jacuzzi, as it works well to clean both the frame of the Jacuzzi as well as the jets. To clean the frame, sprinkle dishwasher detergent onto a wet nylon sponge with scrubber and wipe over the Jacuzzi. Rinse after cleaning. To clean the jets, fill the tub with hot water and 1/4 cup of the detergent. Let the jets run on high for 15 minutes, drain the tub and rinse.
- Bleach works well as a disinfectant, and is especially helpful when numerous people use the Jacuzzi. To use, fill the Jacuzzi with hot water so all the jets are under water, and pour 1/2 cup bleach into the water with 1/4 cup dishwasher detergent. The detergent is not required to disinfect, but you can quickly kill two birds with one stone by cleaning and disinfecting simultaneously. Let the jets run on high for 15 minutes and drain.
- Vinegar works as a "natural" alternative to bleach. The vinegar safely cleans and disinfects the Jacuzzi without using the harmful chemicals used in bleach. To use, add 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1/4 cup dishwasher detergent to the tub, add hot water until all jet line openings are under water and run the jets for 15 minutes. Drain the tub after cleaning.
