How to Operate a Mortar Mixer
- 1). For masonry work, use a mortar mixer that has blades turning inside the drum to mix the mortar. A turning drum-type cement mixer won't give you the same thorough consistency as a mortar mixer.
- 2). Read the manufacturer's instructions before operating your mixer.
- 3). Set up your mixer on a level surface.
- 4). Open the fuel shutoff valve on gas motor units before starting the motor.
- 5). Make sure the mixer is properly grounded if it's electric.
- 6). Start the mixer before adding material.
- 7). Add only a little water first.
- 8). Keep the mix on the dry side until you have added all dry material.
- 9). Add the remaining water to fine-tune the mix.

Always stop the engine before servicing, adding fuel, oil or leaving the mixer unattended. - 11
