One of the ways that Google is trying to expand its information offering is by adding more data to its search databases. So, not only does Google get to add more information to its databases, there is also a huge opportunity to make money on the back of this, which is what Google's business model is all about. Currently, Google offers numerous products and services that allow users to design build and monitor various different things, but of the paid services it has, it stands to make a killing as it moving towards more subtle advertising, hence the targeted book advertising. PPC ads are Google biggest income at present, but as it looks to widen its product range, you can see that it will always be making more than it will lose, year in year out.
