Google Book Search Scan Your Own Books

If you didn't know already, Google has a book search facitility that helps people search for books online. You can search for some of your favourite authors and titles, and can even obtain copies of it in digital format. Since much of Google's revenue comes from paid advertising, it still manages to find time to make organic search as relevant as possible. Google wants to be able to show the user exactly what they are looking for. With an index full of trillions of web pages from all over the world, it aims to show the user exactly what they are looking for.

One of the ways that Google is trying to expand its information offering is by adding more data to its search databases. Book enthusiasts can scan books into Google Book Search and this goes straight into the index for people to search. Users can do this by using a normal barcode scanner or typing in the title of the book, or entering the ISBN number. Once Google has formed a profile of the type of books you like to read about it tries to sell you digital versions of the book, which are targeted towards your needs.

So, not only does Google get to add more information to its databases, there is also a huge opportunity to make money on the back of this, which is what Google's business model is all about. Currently, Google offers numerous products and services that allow users to design build and monitor various different things, but of the paid services it has, it stands to make a killing as it moving towards more subtle advertising, hence the targeted book advertising. PPC ads are Google biggest income at present, but as it looks to widen its product range, you can see that it will always be making more than it will lose, year in year out.
