How to Treat a Sliding Door Window

104 10
    • 1). Match the window treatment you choose with the décor of the room your sliding doors are in. For example, if you have a traditional style room, don't choose a modern window treatment. Instead, opt for drapes that offer a classic look and feel. Match the colors you choose to the colors of the room, as well.

    • 2). Treat your sliding doors with curtains if you want something elegant and versatile. If you have arch-shaped windows on your sliding doors, curtains can be easily conformed to fit this shape.

    • 3). Treat your sliding doors with window blinds and shades if you want an option that can completely block light. Blinds and shades come in many different colors and textures, and different types vary in how much light they let in. Choose the option that fits best with the style of your home and your personal preferences.

    • 4). Suspend the window treatment you choose above the frame of your sliding doors. For example, when hanging curtains, the curtain rod should be several inches above the frame of your doors. This will ensure the window treatment doesn't interfere with the functionality of your sliding doors.

    • 5). Treat the glass of your sliding doors if you want a more permanent treatment. You can choose to have the glass frosted, etched or stained.

    • 6). Add temporary treated glass panes to the glass of your sliding doors if you want the look of treated glass but don't care for the expense and permanence of the effect. Temporary panes give the same look as treated glass, but from up close, it is evident that they are temporary.
