How to Replace the Throttle Position Sensor on a '96 Nissan Pickup
- 1). Raise the hood and remove the air cleaner from the Nissan, using a ¼-inch drive, 10 mm socket and ratchet. Disconnect the electrical connector from the side of the throttle position sensor on the passenger side.
- 2). Remove the two bolts securing the sensor to the throttle body. Lift the sensor off and away from the throttle body.
- 3). Install the new throttle position sensor by installing the two bolts and tightening them down. Before tightening the bolts, make sure the sensor is installed correctly by opening the throttle and feeling for resistance caused by the spring in the sensor. If there is no resistance, take the sensor off and reinstall it.
- 4). Plug the electrical connector into the sensor, and install the air cleaner.
