How to Configure Windows XP for Cable Modem
- 1). Click "Start," and select "Settings" and "Control Panel." Double-click "Network and Internet Connections" in the Control Panel window.
- 2). Click "Network Connections," and select "Create a new connection" from the Network Tasks pane.
- 3). Click "Next" once the Network Connection Wizard starts.
- 4). Select the radio button next to "Connect to the Internet," and click "Next."
- 5). Select "Set up my connection manually," and click "Next."
- 6). Select "Connect using a broadband connection that is always on." This is the option for users with cable modems.
- 7). Enter the Internet service provider name that the cable company provided to you when you signed up. Click "Next" to continue.
- 8). Enter the user name and password the cable company provided. Confirm the password by typing it a second time. Click "Next" to proceed.
- 9). Click "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop." Click "Finish" to complete the process and to close the setup wizard.
