Today there is huge variety of lenses available in the market. In fact if you are routine user of eyeglasses then you should be thorough about the glasses you are using and any other type of glasses you might use in future. There are various treatments that are available with the help of lens. Few methods of lens treatment are:

• Anti reflective coating is very helpful for minimizing reflection and thus providing better vision for your eyes. The anti reflective coating is also known as non glare coating. Anti reflective glasses are useful for people who usually drive at night and for people who are computer savvy. This coating helps very less amount of reflection to reach your eyes.

• The other type of lens is the gradient lens which is dark towards the top and lightens at the bottom. They are mostly used while driving.

• Mirror coated lenses are usually used in sunglasses, ski glasses and more. They help protecting your eyes against lights emitted by watery surfaces or ice and snow.

• Photochromic lenses are lenses which can change colors depending on the UV rays of the sun. When UV rays increases the tint of these lenses darken and helps in protecting your eyes.

• Polarized lenses are made with polarized filters which primarily help in reducing glare. These lenses help in providing 100% UV protection. Thus increasing clarity and perception and are apt for outdoor activities.

• Scratch resistant coating helps in increasing the longevity of your lenses.

• UV (B and C) protection lenses are very popular nowadays. It is ultraviolet rays which is the main cause of cataract, skin cancer and macular degeneration of the retina. Thus UV lens and UV lens filters are very necessary in today's eyeglasses which should be UV B and C protected.

The different types of lenses available today are:

I. Bifocal lenses which are mainly used to correct the problem of presbyopia. This is a vision disorder which usually tends to arise after 40 years of age. When a person is diagnosed with presbyopia it is difficult for them to focus on close objects.

II. Progressive lenses are also used by presbyopia patients. They are preferred more than bifocals as they are less discontinuous.

III. Trifocal lenses have three focal points in one lens.

IV. Single Vision lens are lenses with same focal power throughout the lens.

V. Prescription lenses are lenses which can be worn by everyone only after presenting a valid prescription.

VI. Non prescription lenses are mainly used for cosmetic purposes.

VII. Prescription sunglasses are meant for people suffering from any sort of specific eye problem.
