Hiring a Personal Injury Lawyer: Why Experience Counts?

103 14
There is just no way, you can account for experience -- you either have it or you don't.
And besides experience the lawyer needs to have the guts to say I am willing to lose in order to win.
We often go to trial on a case and not accept what the insurance company offers and I am sure many law firms don't want to risk it; they will take the money and run.
I will not settle a case for $1 less than what it is worth.
If you don't have the experience, there is no way you can size up the other side.
The insurance companies have unlimited money to fight a person with; they have millions or billions of dollars.
No client has that.
I have never seen a client that has that.
If you hire someone who is out of law school for a few years, how can they possibly be good? As much as they try, without doing it over and over, year after year, there is no way you can be good.
It might take 30 years or more to really become a great lawyer.
There is no substitute for experience.
There is no book that can teach experience.
A lawyer learns from mistakes that he commits in his career, this is the only way he can really learn.
Inexperienced Lawyers Tend to Take Short Money in a Personal Injury Case That is the biggest problem that we have and that is why one lawyer can settle a case for USD 50,000 and another will get USD 1 million on it.
Now, for the most part the client pays a 1/3 fee.
In medical malpractice cases, the fees are restricted and they are less than that, but let's assume that whatever the fee is, if it is 1/3 or less, if you hire a lawyer who gets $50,000 because he does not have the guts, the experience, the money in the bank so he can outlast the insurance company and pay out that kind of money and pay all the overhead costs of the case.
If you don't have that kind of person, there is no way they can get the results for you.
They will have to settle cheap because they have no one to try the case.
They don't have the money to pay the doctors.
A lawyer might have to spend $115,000 on a case, but not many people can do that, and if they do have it, they may not want to risk it.
What Every Injury Victim Should Know? The first thing an injured person should do is call an attorney.
They should never speak with the insurance company.
It is like talking to the enemy in a war.
Insurance companies often have only one interest and that is to settle cheaply, have you sign off on your rights, and pay you off for much less than you could otherwise get.
Never speak to the insurance company! They know what they need to know to make it difficult for you to get what you are entitled to.
The best thing you can do is to call an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as you can after the accident, or medical malpractice.
