How to Become a Better Entrepreneur
It takes a lot to become an entrepreneur, particularly to become a good one.
I have had loads of friends and acquaintances with that entrepreneurial spirit, but when it actually got down to starting and maintaining a business they failed miserably.
I have an entrepreneurial spirit myself but have not always succeeded in putting ideas into action.
I'm not unique in this failing, most people are the same.
So what do I need to do, and what do you need to do to get past that lack of action and make our way towards financial independence? Firstly, stop looking for the next best thing to make you rich without having to do any work.
These get rich quick schemes rarely work and you're wasting valuable time trying to find them.
The Internet, although a fantastic resource can allow you to waste valuable time browsing aimlessly for the holy grail which never really materialises.
Yes, by all means use the Internet for research, join forums of like-minded people where you can receive tips and tricks to make your entrepreneurial business start-up easier.
But there comes a time when you have to get off the web and start building your business.
If I consider how much time I could have devoted to my business building rather than browsing aimlessly, it scares the hell out of me.
I could've had a flourishing online business years ago if I had just directed my enthusiasm into actually getting the job done.
Of course, with Internet related businesses you need to do research on the competition, find out types of items and services people are searching for, and use these results to focus your business into the correct niche market.
Do that, it's vitally important.
But realise that after this important research is done it is necessary to get your head down and build that business.
I'm a big fan of Internet marketing.
This type of business allows you to spend time at home with your family, and if successful, to become financially independent and live the type of lifestyle you deserve.
It is certainly easy to look for the next best thing regarding marketing your business.
Social networking, purchasing back links, RSS feeds, Twitter, Facebook and a wide range of other networking tools can take up a hell of a lot of your time if you do not automate the processes properly.
You need to find what works and scale it.
The 80/20 principle will come into play here, meaning 80% of your results will come from 20% of your efforts.
You need to monitor, test and find which 20% you should continue working on and scale it up.
There are many useful automation tools and resources available on the web which can save you much time, and in fact allow you to implement systems which it would be virtually impossible to do without automation.
Social bookmarking software, directory submission software and RSS software allow you to get your business out there with relatively small amounts of effort.
I would wholeheartedly advise researching the types of tools that would be useful to you and buying them.
Many will provide you with a lifetime of upgrades which makes the initial outlay seem very very small.
I'm appalling at creating a schedule and sticking to it, but it's vitally important that you do.
In the past I have sat for a whole day at the computer working away to only find out at the end of the day that I've achieved very little.
Having implemented a strict schedule on what I need to achieve for the day and starting early, I can usually have my working day finished by just after lunch.
This leaves me time to take part in other activities, play with the kids or go out for coffee with my wife.
Try to implement the schedule that gives you this freedom and stops you from working till 10 o'clock at night.
It took a long time before I was comfortable to outsource my work.
I still don't outsource my article writing, but I do occasionally outsource my site content writing to persons I know can get the job done professionally and efficiently.
This gives me more time for my article writing pursuits and dealing with the other issues that running a home-based business causes.
If you can find somebody you trust to take some of the workload away from you I would recommend considering it.
It may be somebody you know, like a university student or a stay-at-home mom.
But I can assure you it's money well spent.
If you can implement some of these tips to make your business life easier it allows you to concentrate on the important areas and gets more done.
Remember if you take massive action over time you will see massive results.
Good luck.
