How to Make a Cayenne Pepper Tincture

103 10
Cayenne pepper is making a comeback.
Making a tincture is easy and can be carried in a small vial or dark eye dropper bottle for use when you are away from home.
I carry this tincture everywhere I go.
My family has their own bottles.
It is said, by some pretty credible sources I might add, that a few drops of cayenne pepper tincture under the tongue can stop a heart attack in its tracks.
Powdered cayenne can be placed in the mouth of a heart attack victim and have the same basic effects.
The powder and the tincture will stop the bleeding from an open wound.
So, how do you make a tincture? It is actually easier than you might think.
I like to use the raw cayenne pepper itself.
I plant a truckload of the pepper every year.
I have plenty of the stuff on hand and give it out all year long to anyone who expresses an interest.
A tincture can be just as easily produced using the freshest ground cayenne (not just red) the store has on the shelf.
I recommend bulk stores.
Their ground peppers are usually fresher than the little bottle you'll find in the grocery stores.
Since you'll need quite a bit of cayenne material, it will be less expensive anyway.
Here's how to mix this wonderful elixir: 1.
1 cup of ground cayenne 2.
2 cups (16 fluid ounces) of 80 to 100 proof vodka (you can use any clear grain alcohol) 3.
Put ground material in a glass quart jar 4.
Pour the alcohol in the jar over the material until it reaches just an inch below the shoulders of the jar 5.
Close lid tightly and shake until all of the material is saturated 6.
The liquid level will fall a little as it saturates the ground cayenne, fill to a half inch of the top 7.
Close lid tightly and shake again 8.
Put tightly closed jar in a cool, dark place 9.
Shake the compound once a day for two weeks 10.
Tincture needs to sit for 6 to 8 weeks.
Can be used with some benefits in 14 days 11.
Strain the liquid through a coffee filter, cheese cloth, or tightly woven white cotton sock into whatever you can use to pour the strained tincture.
As I said, I transfer the finished product to dark bottles as needed, complete with eye- droppers.
Store the finished product tightly closed in a cool, dark place.
There are plenty of places on the internet to come up with the uses of the tinctured cayenne oil, but do your research and exhaust every medical resource before making a decision to use cayenne pepper for any kind of remedy or treatment.
