How to Apply Acrylic Latex Paint
- 1). Place painter's tape on all surfaces where you do not want to apply paint. Press down firmly on the tape to ensure a tightly seal with the wall. Open a plastic drop cloth to cover the floor.
- 2). Open a can of latex primer and insert a 2 1/2-inch angled paint brush into it by 1 inch. Use the brush to paint a thin strip of primer all the way around the edges of the surface you are painting.
- 3). Pour the remainder of the latex primer into a paint tray. Dampen a paint roller with water and use it to apply the primer in a thin, even coat to the entire surface using a paint roller. If the surface is tall, such as the wall of a room, screw an extension handle onto the roller.
- 4). Allow the latex primer to dry for at least 24 hours.
- 5). Open a can of the desired acrylic latex paint color and use a clean 2 1/2-inch angled paint brush to apply a thin strip of paint around the edges of the surface just as you did with the primer.
- 6). Pour 1/4 of the can of acrylic latex paint into a clean paint tray and moisten a paint roller with water. Use the paint roller to spread the paint over the surface in long, smooth strokes.
- 7). Allow the paint to dry for another 24 hours. Carefully pull off all of the painter's tape.
