How to Make Dish Scrubbies
- 1). Purchase 1 yard of heavy nylon netting. Nylon netting, also known as tulle, comes in a wide variety of weights, but avoid light netting. Instead, look for netting that is similar to a window screen in weight. This weight will scrub your pots and pans more effectively.
- 2). Lay out your netting so that it is flat. Cut it into half-yard sections so that each section is 18 inches wide and 44 inches long. You will have two of these pieces of netting.
- 3). Lay out each section so the longest sides are at the top and bottom. Fold the pieces accordion-style in approximately 1-inch sections. When done, you will have two long, folded 1-inch pieces to work with. Place one directly on top of the other.
- 4). Fold the long sections in half lengthwise, which will make a 22-inch piece. Use your scissors to cut the folded short edge.
- 5). Fold the 22-inch piece in half lengthwise, which will make an 11-inch piece. Use your scissors to cut the folded short edge.
- 6). Fold the 11-inch piece in half lengthwise, which will make an 5.5-inch piece. Tie a length of fishing line tightly around the center of this piece. Tie several knots to secure the fishing line in place. Tie another length of fishing line around the center and tie more knots to secure.
- 7). Cut the folded short edge. Fluff up the layers of netting to create a big fluffy pompon-style scrubbie. If the scrubbie is too big, trim off the layers of tulle until it is the size you desire. Place the scrubbie in a dry area after use.
