105 11
Persistent acne can also be referred to as chronic acne. It can be a problem to many, especially if all the possible treatments administered are not yielding any result. It can bring about so many challenges including emotional stress, leading to low self-esteem and social embarrassment. The persistent acne can however be dealt with.

Acceptance

First you need to accept that the condition is chronic due to its persistence. Despite all the treatment that has been administered, the cause of persistent acne has not been fully established. If the acne is long lasting and not responding to any treatment especially over the counter prescription, you need to pause and get to the root of the problem. It is also important to realise that external factors such as different types of cosmetics and ingestion of drugs can also lead to the persistent and stubborn acne.

Possible remedies that can be used include:

1. Garlic

Naturally, garlic has anti-bacterial properties that can help dry out the already persisting acne and also prevent its occurrence. It can be used differently by either applying the paste on the affected area or chewing whole garlic and swallowing its juice which is the best way since you get all the nutrients. It is important to note that garlic paste should never be applied directly to the affected area before diluting with water due to the acid that it contains which can cause burns. Garlic paste should be used properly to achieve the best results.

2. Mints

Mints are locally and cheaply available. It contains menthol which acts as anti-inflammatory and also helps in soothing the already persisting acne. It does not heal but it helps dry the black spots, and also act as a painkiller. The mint leaves can be crushed and applied directly to the whole face and rinsed with cold water.

3. Keep clean bedding and most especially a clean pillowcase

This is a fact that many would ignore when dealing with persisting acne. If the pillowcase is not washed at least once or twice a week, all the dirt that comes in contact with it gets rubbed on your face for about 5 - 8 hours, this can make the acne persist and also spread. Keeping your pillowcase and bedding clean is a cheap way that can help deal with persistent acne and should never be ignored.

4. Avoid rubbing, touching and scratching the affected area

Avoiding scratching, peeling and touching the acne can help smooth the healing process and prevent possible recurrence. The discomfort that comes with recurring acne can be tempting that one may find themselves always on the affected spot scratching each and every minute. It may lead to spreading to other areas.

The lasting solution is having patience. Dealing with persistent acne does not occur in a day, it involves effort by taking proper care of the skin through proper diet, regular exercise and drinking lots of water.
