102 9
Dry skin can be a problem for many. Follow our 5 tips for dry skin and you could see beautiful balanced skin in a few months

1.Dry or Dehydrated? Lots of people think they have dry skin but may in fact be suffering from dehydration. One way to distinguish between the two is by having a look at your forehead in the mirror. Visible horizontal fine lines are an indication of dehydration. Increasing your water intake can help with both skin types. Boost your organic skin care regime with an increase in water or herbal teas (not black tea or coffee!) and you will notice a difference. Some changes should be noticeable after just a few days. But keep at it, longer term results need some commitment.

2.Oil Intake If increasing water has helped but you still arent getting the results you want the next step is to take a look at your diet. Dehydrated skin needs water dry skin needs oil. If skin is dry it is often an indication of not enough essential fatty acids in the diet. Increasing oily fish consumption or adding an Omega 3 supplement to you organic skin care kit may rectify the problem. Take up to 1 gram of Omega 3 per day for 3 months to see results. If taking capsules youll need to calculate how many to take by dividing 1 gram by the micrograms contained in each capsule to make sure you are taking enough. Stick with it true results are usually seen after 3 months.

3.Exfoliate Dry skin may need slightly more exfoliation than other skin types to remove flaky dry skin. Experiment with manual exfoliation using scrubs containing fine particles. If you find these tend to exacerbate the problem switch to a gentle natural exfoliant that uses fruit acids to remove flaky skin. Try to exfoliate once a week to keep skin looking fresh and smooth.

4.Moisturise work out what type of moisturiser works best for you. Some dry skin types love oil products while others will behave better with thick cream formulations. Be careful not to overload the skin. Apply your moisturiser and leave skin for 15-20 mins, if you have the time, before applying make up. It is tempting to keep adding moisturiser but if you let the skin rest for a while it will help regulate oil production and you may not need to add more.

5.Sleep rest is a time for not only the mind to shut off but an important time for skin to repair and regulate itself. Try leaving your skin free from products one or two nights a week. You may be surprised. Leaving the skin free from organic skin care products to self regulate oil production might help bring dry skin back into balance.
