How to Replace Dryer Drums
- 1). Unplug the electrical cord of the dryer from the electrical outlet before attempting to replace the drum.
- 2). Pull the dryer door open and locate the screws under the front lip of the top. Remove the screws with a screwdriver.
- 3). Flip the top of the dryer backwards so it is resting against the wall on the rear hinges and find the screws on the top of the front panel on the inside of the dryer cabinet.
- 4). Unfasten the front panel screws with a screwdriver and lift the panel up, tilting it away from the dryer cabinet.
- 5). Locate the door switch connector on the back of the front panel and unplug the connector by hand, pulling it straight out from the metal prongs.
- 6). Place the front panel out of the way and locate the idler arm next to the motor at the bottom of the dryer cabinet.
- 7). Move the idler arm forward to relieve the tension on the belt and remove the belt from around the drum.
- 8). Place one hand underneath the bottom of the drum and another hand on the top in the front of the drum, lifting up on the bottom and removing the drum from the slot in the rear panel.
