How to Potty Train Your Puppy

103 37
One of the first hurdles to overcome when becoming the owner of a new puppy, is learning how to potty train them.
This skill will keep you and your adorable new family member in harmony and will save you from a lot of frustration.
It is actually a lot easier to teach a puppy to be potty trained than to train a child.
A puppy is quite predictable as to when they will need to empty their bowels or bladder.
When you learn how to predict they are ready to "go", you can teach them where the most acceptable place to do this is.
It is quite usual for a puppy to empty their bladder when they wake up from a nap.
Puppies tend to nap a lot, as their bodies are growing all the time, just like human babies.
Using this knowledge it is recommended that you to take your puppy outside or put him on some newspaper as soon as he wakes.
In doing this, it will teach him that these are acceptable places for him to empty his bladder freely.
Another predictable time that young pups empty their bladders, is immediately after they have been playing hard.
When he has finished a game of chasing a ball or using a lot of energy, this is the time to take him outside or put him on the newspaper.
It is also predictable that a puppy will need to "go" immediately after eating a meal.
Feed them once in the morning and once in the evening.
Again, take them outside or put them on the newspaper after eating and they will soon learn that this is where they must go to the toilet.
Puppies and dogs can understand body and sign language.
By putting your dog outside or on the newspaper, this is a sign he will understand and respond to.
As long as you pay attention to when he is predictably due to "go", you should have him trained without too much mess.
