How to Use a Rotary Garden Tiller
- 1). Fill your tiller with gas. Check and fill any and all other fluids per the manufacturer's instructions.
- 2). Remove as many weeds and as much grass as you can from the area you're planning to till before you till it. Tall or long pieces of grass can get tangled on the rotary blades, making it more difficult for the machine to work properly.
- 3). Place the tiller at one end of the area where you're planning to till.
- 4). Pull the cord for the gas, like you would on a gas lawnmower. Tilt the front of the tiller blades up off the ground a little as you pull, so the blades can rotate a little before digging into the ground completely.
- 5). Walk forward with the tiller like you would with a push lawnmower. Walk at an even and slow pace to give the tiller time to work. Continue until you reach the end of the row. Turn the other direction and till the next row. Repeat the process until you've tilled the entire area.
