John Deere Cake Pan Instructions
- 1). Prepare a 16 oz. box cake mix for a small- to standard-size cake pan; a larger cake pan may need more. The instructions that came with your cake pan may say exactly how much batter you need.
- 2). Grease the cake pan well, paying particular attention to small recessed spaces in the pan.
- 3). Fill the pan between 1/2 and 2/3 full with batter, and bake according to the recipe's instructions.
- 4). Check for doneness by sticking a toothpick into the center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is done. Allow to cool completely.
- 5). Level the cake, if it has baked up higher in the center, by cutting with a sharp knife straight across the top horizontally. This will make it lay flat when you place it on the plate.
- 6). Separate the sides of the cake from the cake pan with a knife. Turn the pan upside down on the plate and gently ease the cake onto the plate.
- 7). Inspect the design for extra bits of cake between the design's features and cut them out. Space between the wheels typically need to be cut out of a tractor cake.
- 8). Decorate the cake as desired. For a John Deere, use green and yellow icing for the tractor itself and black or brown for its wheels.
