How to Disassemble a CF-28
- 1). Turn off your CF-28 and close the screen. Turn the access key located on the right corner of the front side of the computer to unlock the battery cover.
- 2). Turn the computer over and lift up the back battery cover. Lift the battery from the right side of the compartment then lift the hard drive out of the left side of the compartment.
- 3). Locate the locking latch at the rear of the underside of the computer and slide it to the unlocked position. While holding the latch down, turn the lever located just above it counterclockwise. The multimedia pocket cover on the right side of the computer will now lift up and the rectangular metal drive housed in the pocket will eject slightly from the compartment. Slide it completely out of the pocket.
- 4). Turn your computer right-side up and open it. Use your fingers to lift up the thin plastic connector cover that sits just above the keyboard. Then use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws revealed where the cover used to sit.
- 5). Use your screwdriver to remove the four screws on the top of the computer just under the screen. Then lift the keyboard up by its top corners and place it facedown over the trackpad on the bottom half of the computer. A metal plate that covers the internal wiring will now be exposed where the keyboard sat. Remove the four screws in the middle of the cover and use your fingers to disconnect the two connector ribbons from the back of the keyboard. Set the keyboard aside.
- 6). Disconnect the two ribbons that run from the interior of the computer to the bottom of the LCD screen. Then remove the screws on each of the two hinges of the laptop to release the screen. Set the screen aside.
- 7). Open the connector cover at the rear of the main body of the computer and remove the single screw located directly in the middle. Then turn the computer over and remove the nine screws that secure the bottom half of the laptop to the top. These screws are located along the sides of the bottom of the computer.
- 8). Lift up the bottom housing to expose the internal components of your laptop and set the housing aside. At this point your CF-28 is completely disassembled.
