Who would have ever thought that a little wooden train would help a company grow into a multinational multimillion dollar company? Today there are not only countless number of trains sets, engines, cars and tracks to select from but so much more.
The cartoon brought by Thomas into the average home and a sale explosion went off.
Now there are videos, books, lamps, party supplies, puzzles and games.
Seems like if a child would like it and a train could be part of it, there is a Thomas train accessory to fit the need.
But this was not enough for the Thomas train company.
I was visiting a friend of mine that liked trains.
He had an HO scale setup in his basement.
It was very detailed with the little town and the mountain that the tracks that ran through.
We sat down for dinner and on the dinner plate staring up at me was Thomas.
I understand the clocks, the sheets, the bed spreads and even the lunch box but not the dinner plates! As I sat there I then noticed it was not just the plates but a complete dinning set with cups and saucers.
My friend started laughing.
He knew I had seen enough of Thomas because of my son and this was a joke on me.
I still can't believe all this merchandising from one little wooden train set named Thomas.
