Spring - Are We There Yet?
Only two months till spring.
I can hardly wait.
Winter seems to linger on after the holidays.
Are you ready for spring to arrive? Seed catalogs have started arriving and it's time to spend the remaining months of winter planning your garden landscaping.
That is the only thing that gives hope to the remaining cold dreary days of winter.
The first step to preparing for spring is to take inventory of what you have planted in your existing garden.
How did those plants and shrubs do last season? Which ones were productive and which ones need to be removed? Do you have some spaces in which new plants can be planted? If so, you'll need to figure out what type of plants that you want in those spots, That's where the fun comes in.
You can pore for hours over the catalogs that have arrived in the mail.
Visualize the new plants in your existing gardens and make diagrams.
Oh, what dreams you can have! Seed catalogs are the first sign that spring is on its way.
After deciding what plants you want to put in your garden, you'll need to place the order from the catalogs.
They will not ship the products till it's time for planting in your area.
As we get closer to warmer weather, you can get outside, enjoy the sunshine and start to stretch your cooped up muscles.
Start being more active and it will help you get into shape to work in your gardens without having sore muscles.
The clock is ticking and the days are going by slowly.
Be patient-keep an eye out for that first robin-which always says spring is close.
When it finally arrives, enjoy and give thanks for the sunshine and spring rains.
Happy Gardening!
