Do Your Due Diligence When You Work From Home
Please, and I say this from experience, do your due diligence.
If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
There are a large number of companies coming online, technically outsourcing, to people who work at home.
Some less scrupulous companies and individuals have noted this demand and are exploiting the market by selling worthless listings and reports.
Think in terms of not just money down the drain but time lost as well.
You must pursue this with all the seriousness of a regular old fashioned job hunt.
You wouldn't work for a company that didn't tell you their name or where they were located in the real world.
Don't settle for that kind of company online either.
Your prospective new employers contact information should be easily obtainable and you should get a response within 48 hours of an email and there should be someone who answers the phone when you call.
So, obviously, the next step should be to get in contact with someone at the company.
Don't be satisfied that there is merely a phone number listed.
Scammers are onto this practice and will list dummy phone numbers or answering service lines instead of an actual business line.
Call or email and get your questions answered.
As with any job, there are qualifications.
You should have the requisite experience needed.
If the job is available to anyone with an internet connection, it doesn't sound like a job to me.
It sounds more like a sales pitch.
No legitimate online company will ever ask you for money upfront for the privilege of working for them.
It doesn't happen offline, why should it happen online.
Finding a good work from home job that fits your skills can be time consuming but would you rather spend your time finding a good opportunity or kicking yourself because you got suckered into what looked legitimate.
Decent jobs are out there for the work from home market.
Use the skills you would ordinarily use offline in your online search and you should steer clear of any problem work from home opportunities.
