How to Remove U3 Software
- 1). Insert the flash drive into the computer. If it is the first time that you are plugging the flash drive into a particular computer, it may take a moment to install. A bubble notification should appear in the bottom right corner of your screen to notify you that the device is ready to be used.
- 2). Open the U3 Launchpad. You can do this by clicking on the U3 icon in the task bar on the bottom right corner of your screen. This should open a new window that lists several preinstalled programs that are usable when the drive is plugged in.
- 3). Click on "Settings," which is located on the right side of the new window. This should open a new menu.
- 4). Select "U3 Launchpad Settings." A new window should appear with several tabs on the left side.
- 5). Select the "Uninstall" tab.
- 6). Click on the "Uninstall U3 Launchpad Button." This will launch the Launchpad Removal Program.
- 7). Click "Next" to continue. The program will then ask you if you wish to restore the files that you already saved on your drive, as it deletes the entire contents of the flash drive. However, if you elect to do so, the program can restore your personal files by transferring them to the computer before the drive is formatted, then transferring them back after the U3 software is removed.
- 8). Select "Yes" if you want your files restored or "No" if you want your files permanently deleted.
- 9). Select the "Format" button. The formatting process may take a few minutes; the specific amount of time varies according to the memory capacity of your flash drive, as flash drives with more memory take longer to format. Once formatting is complete, you have successfully removed the U3 Launchpad software.
