How to Remove a Flush Valve From a One Piece Toilet
- 1). Turn the water supply valve behind the toilet clockwise to shut off the water to the tank. Remove the tank lid and flush the toilet.
- 2). Soak up the remaining water in the toilet tank with towels. Wring the towels out into a bucket and continue soaking up the water in the tank until all water is gone.
- 3). Unhook the flapper ears from the pins on the side of the flush valve. The flapper ears are rubber and unhook by pulling the ears away from the pins with your fingers.
- 4). Insert the removal tool into the flush valve hole, lining up the tabs in the valve hole with the notches on the tool.
- 5). Adjust the jaws of an adjustable wrench around the hex handle of the removal tool. Turn the removal tool counterclockwise with the wrench to unscrew the flush valve from the toilet tank.
