How to Find Out What a House Is Worth Online
- 1). Go to Zillow.com for one of the most efficient home-appraisal sites on the Internet.
- 2). Enter your address, city and state in the "Find Homes" box at the top of Zillow's homepage.
- 3). Place the minimum and maximum amount you expect for your home in another box to the bottom left of the "Find Home" box. Indicate how many bedrooms and bathrooms in the two boxes to the right.
- 4). Press "Go" and wait for a satellite map to appear from Bing in the center of the page. Find your house on the satellite map and click on the little icon giving a number and a "k" for how many thousands of dollars the house may be worth.
- 5). Understand that the appraisal figure may be overly generalized, since Zillow only bases it on general variables in any given neighborhood.
- 1). Go to RealEstate.Yahoo.com to use a similar service from Yahoo.
- 2). Enter your address, city, state and zip code into subdivided boxes on Yahoo's main page. Wait for the map to appear. Know that the satellite-map option here isn't quite as high-definition as the one from Bing on Zillow.
- 3). Watch for the stats on your house at the top of the map, rather than clicking any icons.
- 4). Look below the map for helpful information on comparable homes that have sold in the general area and their appraised worth.
- 5). Click on the tab to the right of the comparable homes tab to see a listing of homes that have sold in the same general neighborhood and what the final price was.
