How to Teach Someone to Do a Cartwheel
- 1). Secure one end of the jump rope by placing a rock or heavy item on the handle.
- 2). Hold the other end of the jump rope 3 feet from the ground, creating an angle.
- 3). Explain to the children that you would like them to place both hands on the near side of the rope and land their feet on the other side.
- 4). Allow them to watch the demonstrator perform the task.
- 5). Let each child take a turn cartwheeling over the rope for a few practice rounds.
- 6). Use the spotter to guide the children's legs up and over their heads to achieve a more vertical position.
- 7). Encourage the children to move toward the higher part of the rope as they become more proficient.
- 8). Take the rope away and have the children practice without the guide.
