Battery Power

• The Hallmark Recordable Storybook uses voice-capture technology to record each page of a book. The recording will never be lost, even when the three AAA batteries wear down and need to be replaced. But the locking device may be a little cumbersome. You will need to use a screwdriver to unlock the back panel to get to the hidden switch that locks the recording.
  
  

Reading Pace

• When recording your voice, you will need to read at a quick pace so that you are not not cut off by the device. This quick reading pace may affect young readers who are trying to listen and read along with the story.
  
  

Microphone/Speaker

• The reader should not place his or her face too close to the microphone, to keep the vocal line from recording too loudly. Also, the microphone picks up background noise very easily, so choose a quiet environment when recording.
  
  

Movement

• The Hallmark Recordable Storybook is very sensitive to movement. When reading from the device, hold the book very still and place it on a flat surface away from small children. As a page is opened, a light sensor detects when the page is opened or turned. If the device is not lying flat, not fully open or bumped, it will stop and start reading the same page over again.
