How to Lose Weight Using MyPyramid
- 1). Print out a copy of MyPyramid. See the resources section below for the link. You may think you know what's on it but look again.
- 2). Use MyPyramid as a guide when you prepare meals. MyPyramid states to eat:
3 oz. of whole grains, dark green and orange vegetables, dry beans and peas, a variety of fruit, low fat dairy products, baked, broiled or grilled protein such as meat and poultry - 3). Keep copies of MyPyramid in places where you will eat and prepare food. Put a copy on your fridge or on a cabinet.
- 4). You can use almost any low fat recipe cook book and find ways to prepare healthy foods using the MyPyramid.
- 5). You don't have to count calories to use MyPyramid. Your goal is to learn to make healthy choices on a regular basis.
- 6). You don't have to give up your favorite sweet. Reserve it for dessert after dinner. Or make it a few times a week rather than daily.
- 7). You can use the MyPyramid website to create meal plans and learn more about good nutrition for adults, kids, and preschoolers.
