How Can I Tighten a Sliding Glass Shower Door?
- 1). Lay the drop cloths so they cover surfaces of the tub and shower near the door. This protects them from getting scratched.
- 2). Locate the metal or plastic guide rail on the bottom section of the sliding door frame. Remove the screws, and lift the guide rail away from the frame.
- 3). Grab each side of one of the doors and lift it out of its track from the top. Once it is cleared from the top track, gently lift it out of the bottom track. If the shower has two doors that slide, remove the other door in the same way.
- 4). Wipe the tops and bottoms of the doors to remove any residue and dirt.
- 5). Inspect the rollers that are located on the top and bottom of the doors. There will be a plastic or metal "wheel" connected to a screw. The screw goes through an angular slit, allowing the screw and wheel to move up and down the slot in various positions.
- 6). Use a screwdriver to slightly loosen the top track wheel screws and slide the screw toward the top of the slit. Depending on how far down the screw is located in the slit, you may only need to move it halfway up the slit to get proper positioning. Repeat on the top track of both doors if needed. Tighten each screw when you have it in the desired position.
- 7). Use a screwdriver to loosen the bottom track wheel screws. Slide the screw toward the bottom of the slit. If the screw was at the top of the slit, only move it about halfway. Tighten the screws when the wheel is in the desired position.
- 8). Tilt the door and line up the track top wheels with the track of the door frame and slide them into the track. Tilt the bottom wheels into the bottom of the door frame. Slowly move the door back and forth. If the door doesn't fully slide or one or more wheels does not fit in the track, make small adjustments to each screw until the door glides smoothly.
- 9). Replace the guide rail and guide rail screws.
