How to Start Defragging Auto in Task Manager

    • 1). Press the CTRL, ALT and Delete keys simultaneously, then click "Task Manager" to launch the Task Manager.

    • 2). Click the tab labeled "Applications" then click "File" followed by "New Task."

    • 3). Type "dfrgui.exe" into the "Create New Task" window and click "Open."

    • 4). Click "Configure Schedule" to set the Windows Defragmenter to automatically defragment your computer at a designated time or frequency.

    • 5). Place a check-mark beside "Run on a Schedule" and then select the frequency, date and time that you would like the Windows Defragmenter to run, using the drop-down menus.

    • 6). Click "OK" to save the schedule preferences and then click "Close" to close the Windows Defragmenter utility. The utility will automatically launch and run at the time designated on your schedule.
