History of Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, New York
- KeySpan Park opened in 2001 on the site where a popular 1960s amusement park, Steeplechase, once stood. It was built with city funds. The naming rights were sold to KeySpan Energy, and it seats 7,500.
- KeySpan Park is located in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn. It is on Surf Avenue next to the Astroland amusement park, and steps from the boardwalk and beach.
- A name the team contest was held, and "Cyclones" was the winner. The name is in honor of the famous Cyclone roller coaster that sits a few blocks from KeySpan Park.
- KeySpan Park pays homage to the Brooklyn Dodgers, the major league team that left the borough for Los Angeles in 1958. Statues of former Dodgers players Pee Wee Reese and Jackie Robinson stand at the park's entrance, and there is a Brooklyn Baseball Gallery that showcases exhibits about the Dodgers.
