Vandalism is the destruction of public or private property without the property's owner permission. Vandalism is considered as a crime. There are several laws against crime of vandalism.

Types of Vandalism:

There are numerous types of vandalism which are punishable by the law.

Glass breakage: Breaking the car windows without owner's permission is also a type of vandalism. This type of vandalism pays high penalties for property owners.

Graffiti: Graffiti- an act of vandalism which includes paintings on buildings, walls, buses and trains is also a crime.

Arson: Arson is nothing but setting fire with intent to cause damage. Arson is also a crime and carries penalties because of the risk of harm and the huge financial losses.

Theft: Property theft is also a type of vandalism and it also includes penalties.

Littering: Throwing and leaving trash on public grounds is also considered as a crime. This is not a big crime but even penalize for this crime.

Egging: Eggs are capable of causing damages to property and as a result egging is also considered as a crime.

Jail: A jail sentence for vandalism may range from days to years depending on the level of damage.

Fines: Fines for vandalism may range from hundreds to thousands of dollars and the fine is paid directly to the court.

Restitution: Restitution is the amount you pay to the property owner for the damage you caused.

Probation: The court may also sentence probation if you made vandalism for first time. If you violate probation rules like serving community, the court may give jail sentence.
