How to Build Your Own Fishing Baits
- 1). Place a metal bottle cap on a sturdy work surface. Position the cap so that it is standing on the crimped rim.
- 2). Make a hole in the crimped edge with a hole punch and hammer. Center the hole between the edge of the crimped rim and the flat top of the cap.
- 3). Turn the metal cap and make another hole in the crimped rim directly across from the first hole.
- 4). Spread a split ring with a pair of split ring pliers and attach through one of the holes. Spread a second split ring and attach through the opposite punched hole.
- 5). Attach a barrel swivel to one of the split rings. Spread the split ring with split ring pliers to thread on the barrel swivel.
- 6). Place four BB bullets in the metal cap. Pick up the cap and hold it with the thumb on one side of the punched holes and the index and middle finger on the other side of the holes.
- 7). Apply pressure to bend the cap from one punched hole to the other. Continue bending until the edges of the crimped rim touch and the BB bullets are held securely inside.
- 8). Attach a treble hook to the split ring opposite the barrel swivel. Spread the split ring with split ring pliers and thread the eye of the hook onto the split ring.
