How to Use Crystals for Studding on Cars

    • 1). Plan your pattern or design. For example, if you are just lining the edge of your dashboard, decide how far apart you will space the rhinestones and count between each space.

    • 2). Wash the surface of your interior where you will be sticking the crystals with soap and water or the surface cleaner of your choice. Dry the surface thoroughly with a soft towel and make sure there is no cleaner residue left behind. Use chalk to make faint dots to represent where you will place the rhinestones and make sure they are perfectly spaced by measuring between them with a ruler.

    • 3). Wipe the first chalk dot away with a soft cloth and place a tiny amount of your glue where the dot was. The amount of glue you use should be about one-half of the diameter of the flat side of the rhinestone. When you press the rhinestone to the glue, it will spread and you want to avoid having to wipe away excess glue. If some glue spreads past the edges of the rhinestone, use a damp paper towel to wipe it away immediately or you will have to scrape it off when it dries (this will not damage the interior's surface).

    • 4). Repeat Step 3 until the pattern or studded line is complete. Do not touch the rhinestones for 24 hours to make sure that the glue has cured completely.
