How to Write a Romantic Letter

101 24
The lost art of creative writing, poetry in motion, and placing a pen firmly to paper seems to be an art that most people don't know about. It's sad to say but many just don't use the mailbox nearly as often to say the things that are in one's heart. For those that want to make their heart's flutter count, consider the following 3 ideas on how to write well, and see the sparks light up the sky.

1. Hand Write - Before you start an email, or a word document, stop yourself and get a piece of paper and a pen/pencil. Start the letter with the classic, "Dear" and their name and then start pouring out what you want to say. Don't second-guess it and don't erase it unless there's a blatant error. If you're working in pen, cross it out to show that you were thinking of them greatly. Do not stop your pen or pencil until you're completely done with your thoughts.

2. Butterflies - Even if you're not sure what to say, are nervous, or just aren't a great writer, go for it. Make sure you avoid saying "I love You" too much, as repetition can be a bit on the cheesy side. If you know your partner will love you for whatever you write, then by all means add a thick coating of the goo. Make sure that you make personalized references to things that you two share so that it doesn't seem like a template or that you copied it from somewhere.

3. Lyrics, Quotes, Etc. - If you are so inclined and you share a common bond in lyrics, quotes, or references, make sure to include them. Just like point #2 says, make sure that it's something that the two of you would know. Do not just throw in random Shakespeare or something like that; make it as personal as possible.

Letter writing can be complicated for some and how to write a romantic letter is even tougher. There aren't many romantics that are putting their pen to good use anymore. With the lightning fast speed of the internet, many are just satisfied with the random emails and other solutions that are created by the online world. Slow down, make the words come out, and make them count. There is nothing quite like receiving a piece of mail from the one you love so if you can simply get past the "quick" minded world that the modern age has everyone trapped in, you'll do fine.

If you are one of those people that have a hard time expressing their feelings, get some post it notes. Make notes about the points you want to make, and then start constructing the letter in time. Do not be in a rush, and always speak from the heart. You can't go wrong if you're as honest as you can possibly be.
