    • 1). Turn the new PC on and log in. If you do not have the most recent version of iTunes installed on this PC, visit support.apple.com (see Resources) to download it.

    • 2). Open the iTunes program on your new PC and use the "Setup Assistant" to set the options as you desire them on the program.

    • 3). Turn the iPod on and connect it to your new PC with the USB cable.

    • 4). Open the iTunes preferences on your PC and select the "Advanced" tab. Select the "Reset" button near the top of the page. Click "OK." Select "File," then "Library," and then choose "Consolidate Library" from the drop-down menu. Click "Consolidate" and then close iTunes. This will back up any existing music you already have on your new PC.

    • 5). Find the music folder on your new PC (usually located under "My Documents" and then "My Music"). Use the mouse to drag the iTunes folder from within the "My Music" folder to the desktop.

    • 6). Click "My Computer" to locate your iPod and double click on the iPod icon. This will open your iPod. Use the mouse to drag the iTunes folder from your iPod to the "My Music" folder you have opened on your PC. Wait while the music copies, which may take some time if there is a lot of content.

    • 7). Open iTunes again on your new PC. You will see all of your songs, playlists and other information contained within the iTunes program on your new PC.

    • 8). Select "File" and then "Add folder to Library." Click the iTunes folder you placed on your desktop. This will move the music you may have already had on your PC in with the music you just moved.
