Cache In, Trash Out

103 24
Being geocachers, we are expected to help the environment while exploring it as well.
It is very crucial that while out in the field that we help make our world just a little bit cleaner by practicing CITO (Cache In, Trash Out).
There are many times when we are caching in the middle of nowhere and yet there can be trash found everywhere.
Moreover, cachers such as myself will leave the trash right where it is after snagging the find.
It is safe to say that we all have all been guilty of this action at one point or another.
There are many cache hiders who are now giving us that extra push to practice CITO.
In numerous caches you will now find canisters filled with garbage bags.
It is a great idea to further encourage this idea.
I realize that picking up trash is not the most exciting thing to do while out caching.
It is also understood that we do not have to do it at every cache.
However, it is important to contribute to cleaning our environment that we so often cache in.
After all, sometimes caching in a beautiful area can be somewhat ruined due to the sight of garbage all over the place.
Just think of how appreciative the next cacher will be when they see the same beauty but without the trash.
It should not feel like an obligation to better our "playground.
" To make this even better there are times when cachers can turn this into an event.
If you know of a park or area in need of an overhaul then it is only beneficial to set up a CITO event.
It is a great chance for cachers to meet each other and also do something nice for Mother Nature.
All in all, it should be important to each and every geocacher that our environment is clean to provide an even better atmosphere to cache in.
