How to Configure a Dual Boot From Scratch
- 1). Insert your Windows 7 installation disk into the optical drive. Turn on your computer. Click "Install Now." Enter your 25 character product key, accept the License agreement and click "Next." Click "Install."
- 2). Restart your computer to boot Windows 7. Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "System and maintenance." Open "Administrative Tools." Open "Computer Management." From "Storage," choose "Disk Management." Right click your hard drive and click "New simple volume." Click "Next." Choose the size and drive letter for your second partition. Click "Finish."
- 3). Place the installation disk for your second operating system into your optical drive. Reboot your computer. Choose the new partition as the location for your second operating system. Follow the on-screen instructions to install your second operating system. Reboot your computer. You will have a dual boot machine that allows you to choose between the two operating systems.
